Psychic Kids: Paranormal Children on A&E TV

Last night, I decided to watch this show I recorded on Monday called Psychic Kids: Children of the Paranormal, on A&E. I remember watching the trailer and found myself becoming oddly overwhelmed. I guess the words "Physic Kids" caught my attention long enough to make me record it. While watching, you're introduced to three little girls (ages 10-17), all of whom have physic powers. None of them are related, but they all share a very similar feeling of fear and confusion over their psychic abilities. Here is how A&E describes the show In this special spotlighting psychic kids, we will focus on three compelling psychic and/or mediumistic kids (ages 10-17) as they learn to manage the gift they have been given. Like real life "Heroes", these kids feel isolated and alone, set apart from the other "normal" kids because of the burden of their powers. We will meet them at their home, in their own environment, to experience what they are dealing with before they come to a very special three day "camp" that will offer invaluable support and guidance from the professional psychics. Paranormal State psychic Chip Coffey helps these kids through this three day transformational experience. When I hear the word "Psychic" I think of that Jamaican lady "Ms Clio". That lady was as fake as Milly Vanilly's singing. But, this show seems interesting. It's about the kids dealing with these anomalistic gifts. You also get an inside look on how the family's deal with it. Last nights episode got me a little scared at time, so I can only imagine how the family's must feel. One little girl said spirits scream at her and push her out of her bed at times. (Oh hell no!) Can you imagine that? As weird and unbelievable as it sounds, I think I'll keep watching. If you're interested in learning about the show. You can go to the website www.A&E.com, the show airs Monday nights at 10pm.

Weezy = Platinum

It's true, your boy Lil Wayne is official "THE MAN". You'd be a fool to think he wouldn't go platinum, but what's impressive is it all happening in the first week. With major declines in record sales, you can't help but to believe miracle do happen. I'm sad to say I didn't go buy the album. A friend of mine did, and said it wasn't that great and she's a die had Weezy fan. So, instead I spend the money on dinner (a sista gotta eat). However, I did hear a few tracks off the album that were cool, so maybe I'll borrow it from her later.

AND THE WINNERS ARE.....THE CELTICS!!!!!

WE WON BABY!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! Good Morning to all my Celtic's fans!!! Last night we did it baby! Did you see it? I mean, did you REALLY see it? I was hype, like I was standing in the bleches. LMAO! That game was off the hook! KG, Ray Allen, and MVP Paul Pierce took it all the way! Sorry LA fan's, but you got your asses handed to ya! 131-92 Celtics. I'm not gonna get into to much detail because, I don't want to embarrass myself with the NBA lingo (lord know I no nothing about that). But I am gonna say this, The Celtics went to work on the Lakers, and god knows it was about time! The Celtics earned the hell outta this win! and they deserve this victory! Good job guys!

Album Review---Usher: Here I Stand

I'm in love with this album, I listen to it almost everyday. Although, it can never be compared to Confession's (which is now classified as a classic) it's still a banger. You can tell how much he's grown threw out the album. Although he didn't write most of the songs, his delivery was on point. Here's my track by track analyses. Love in this Club: I can't lie, when I first heard this song, I wasn't really moved by it. It had to grow on me. I guess I was looking for something more like how I felt when I first heard Confessions and Yeah!. However, I like the beat, it's real smooth and it gives you a nice bouncy feel. The lyrics, are cool. It's really catchy, which is most likely why they made this his first single. Jeezy's verse is cool and Ushers voice is wonder as always. Like it! This Ain't Sex The melody gives it a MJ feel which I like alot. The lyrics are well developed, but I cant say it's one of my favorites. Don't hate it! Trading Places Love IT! This song is hot. The lyrics are crazy (prop's to The Dream)The flow of the song is crazy (gone get it, get it, get it, get it, get it) lol love that part. The way his voice goes so high at the end makes me shiver all over! In other words "He's going in!" (Right A-Lova) LMAO. Moving Mountains OMG This is my song! The Dream worked his magic once again. The lyrics are profound. I was drawn to it as soon as I heard it. The beat fits extremely well, the fast and slow motion, and the high and low pitches are genius. Over all, this is a must listen. Love it! What's your name. Feat Will.I.AM Hate it! Pray for you This is the sweetest thing I've ever heard him sing. It's personal and I respect that more than anything because, he opened up and it's so real! Something Special I get an old school feel from this one. Something I could catch my mother playing on the weekends. Robin Thicke wrote it, and it defiantly has his touch. It's easy on the ears to say the lease. Like it! Love You Gently Love! Love! Love this joint! This song goes hard all the way!!! Raheem DeVaughn! OMG your a musical genius! As soon as it come on, your taken back to when "real" R&B music felt good. The breakdown puts this song in the league of the greats. It's one of the best R&B joints I've heard in a long time. The arraignments, the vocals, and the lyrics are off the wall. The beat omg.... one word... graceful. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! Best Thing Feat. Jay-Z I mean, how can you go wrong with "The Great" Jay-z on the track? Love it! Before I met you This is one of my favorites! The words are extremely sentimental, honest and believable. I love the high pitched(YOU) too! Brian Cox did a great job on this one! Love it! His Mistakes Can't you tell Ne-yo wrote this one? He's great at making slow extravagantly emotional songs. Love it! Appetite I like how he gave us a mental picture. The choirs is crazy, the way it's broken down when the beat comes in is amazing. Love it What's a man to do Cant say I'm in love with it, but it's cool. it took me a couple listens to understand the lyrics, but I finally got it. It also gives me a Ne-Yo feel. Nice beat! Lifetime It takes a little to long to come . I like the mellow feel, which makes it real easy to grove to. The lyrics and arrangements give it a real nice old school feel also. Love in the club part two Okay I know some of u might not agree but, when I heard this I felt like it was just thrown together. It was as if not much thought was put into the lyrics. Like somehow Usher ran into Beyonce at the studio, and said "Hey! you wanta do a remix real quick?" and threw lil Wayne on the track just for the hell of it. Now don't get me wrong, I like the song, but I feel like it could have been done better. Here I stand Great Track indeed! I get a Floery, jazz feel from it! I like it alot! It's a great he dedicated it to his wife! Good job. I grade this Album with an A-.

Album Review--Ashanti: The Declaration

OMG NOOOOO! I had so much hope for this album, and yet again I was left disappointed. Ashanti, it's been four years! FOUR YEARS and you come back with "I got that Good Good" ??? You cant be serious. Here's my track by track analyses Track Two: The way that I love you, I LOVE LOVE LOVE this song! If you go down to my previous post, I commented on the video to this song, and expressed my admiration for it. The beat is crazy, the lyrics are sick and you can feel her growth. Wonderful track none the less. Track Three You're Gonna Miss: I cant say I hate it. However, the lyrics are weak, the beat is real lite and poppy which is cool in a way, and she using the T-Pain instrument (no no). It almost sounds like it should've been on her first album. Track Four So Over You: I'm feeling it! The melody gives it a summer feel which is cool. I like the breakdown before and in middle of the choirs. DarkChild killed the beat! The lyrics are...better then track two. Like it! Track Five Struggle: There's something that's not right about this song. The beat is lite, but it would be better if you didn't listen to the rapping styled singing. It's funny because if you remember Nelly and Tim McGraw's song "Over and Over" it sounds exactly the same. Dont like it! Track Six Girlfriend: This is more of a slow love making song. The lyrics are good, it's hard to go wrong with this kind of melody. Like it! Track Seven Things you make me do. Feat. Robin Thicke: This is a very sensual song. I like it alot. Robin sounds great. They compliment one another voices well. The lyrics are hot and the beat is very smooth and relaxing. Like it! Track Eight In These Streets: Okay first off, rename the song please. Stop with all the "being hood" mess! I'm not feeling it! I'm also not really feeling the song. The lyrics are cool, but I feel like she was all over the place on this one. Th beat is real mellow and I enjoyed that, but i feel like she was trying to hard with the vocals. Dont like it! Track Nine Good Good: OMG are you serious? JD! Why did you do this to her? This is pure bullshit! HATE IT! Track Ten Body On Me: Is this a remake of Mezmerized? Come on now!!! Haven't you guys learned from your mistakes yet? Acon? please stop the madness! Track Eleven Mother: LOVE IT! This song is perfect! Very heartfelt and poetic. Her vocals are great, and the lyrics are amazing. I think it's sweet she made a song for her mother. Like it. Track Twelve Shine: The typical up lifting song. The kids at the end sound really cute! like it! Track 13 The Declaration: Love it! This song goes pretty hard. I can see this being her next single because the rest of the song don't compare. The beat is crazy, the lyrics are real because she declaring her position in the game. Plus I believe she talking about Irv Gotta (just a thought) lol. Over all, I'll Grade this album with a C+. Ashanti, I don't want to give up on you, but you're making it very hard for me not to.

Why hasn't there been a Black Bachelorette?

For some reason I've been watching the Bachelorette on ABC. If you haven't heard, reality shows have taken over the world, and will lead us into abomination. Whatever happen to writing a scrips and sticking with it? My theory to the mayhem is, with the sky rocketing gas prices, global warming, and the declining economy, people are starting to lose brain cells. Which is why we are subjecting ourselves to such detestable behavior... I miss the good old days. Why hasn't there ever been a Black person to become the Bachelor or the Bachelorette? I'm not in any form a racist, but I can't help but point out the obvious. Also, if a black person ever gets on the show, there off within the first couple of episodes. What's up with that? Some say the Flavor of Love was the "black" Bachelor. Hell No! That show was ghetto, disrespectful to women, degrading, and dramaful, which in return, makes for get TV lmao! But seriously, why can't we get a brake? When will it be our turn America?

Доброе утро! (Good Morning in German)

Yo! Yo! Yo! What's going on everybody? Second day of the work week!!! Aren't you excited? Blah! Blah! Blah! Okay, maybe not. It's 100 degrees here in TX. Yeah you read it right. It should be against the law to be this hot. I mean really, why is it this hot? I would rather it be a good 75-80, that's perfect. Today should be a regular Tuesday for me. I have nothing special planned, just work as usual. Unless something interesting happens to distract me, I'll be sitting at my desk doing nothing as usual. Lata!

My Weekend Festivities

I'm gonna to get a little more personal on this one if you don't mind. :-) For the last few weeks, Ive been having the worst luck I've ever had in my life. (Okay maybe not, but it sure did feel like it.) For starters, My uncle passed away from a heart attack while driving about a month ago. (RIP Uncle George, Love you always). Then I locked my keys in my car twice in one week and had to pay 35.00 each time to get then out. After that, I lost my wallet with all of my credentials in it and it's hell getting all of that info back. Which means I had no ID on my 21 B-day. :-( Then, my so called friends cancelled on my B-day dinner. (Ya no who ya'll are and best to believe, I will not forget that one!) But to top it off, my job only paid me for three day because I was out of town for my uncle's funeral. (They didn't tell me they where going to do that). Talk about pissed! Then the damn bank wouldn't give me my damn money because I didn't have valid ID. (These MF see me every other week and now they wanted start this mess? I can't believe it!!) So just when I was about to give up on it all, and possible kill someone with my bare hands, I spoke to someone who turned it all around! (You no who you are :-)) They were able to make me see the glass as half full, appose to half empty (because lord knows I was crying almost everyday for the past week) Much thanks to you! My weekend started on Thursday. I had sooooo much fun just hanging out and enjoying the evenings festivities (sorry cant discuss). Then on Friday, I went to work. Fridays at my job feel like second Wednesdays because it's so boring! But, because I was feeling a lot better about my life, Friday felt like an actual Friday. Later on that night, I went to the moves with a friend to see The Hulk. Now, I'm not a big fan of the Hulk to say the least, but I really enjoyed it. I most likely wouldn't watch it again though. After that we went to dinner, it was very nice :-). Saturday, I went out to Lake Travis because a fiend of mine was having a bday party. We had a good old time listening to music, drinking, eating, and talking mess. One thing I realized, when ever you go out to the lake, the pool, the beach, or a water park, when it's time to go, you always need to take a long nap (or is that just me?). Sunday was an adventure. My friend Shirren and I went to Schlitterbahn Water Park as a bday gift to me. Man did we have fun. Although my hair is jacked (lol) I really had a good time. We were some big kids up in there jumping around acting a fool. Once I got home from that, I took yet another nap (they put some sleepy pills in water). Once I woke up, the game was on. LAL vs BOS. I was hype! Although LA won last night, BOS is gonna take it all the way! (Yeah I said it!!! Who want it?) To avoid any altercations, I'll reframe from further comments about the game. Since the game ended after 11 I decide to go back to sleep. Now I'm here writing. I'm still feeling good, so hopefully my bad luck strike is over. Only time Will tell though.

Happy Belated Birthday To ME!

Good Morning Everyone! It's a wonderful Monday morning and I feel good. Most of you might not know this, but my Birthday was June 10. So that means, I'm finally 21!!! DRINKS FOR ME!!! lol. However, my B-day didn't go as planned, but it's okay because I have all year to celebrate. Most people say once you turn 21 u wont want to celebrate anymore. Forget that! I'm celebrating every B-day I have! I'm proud to be alive and celebrating my birthday is my way of saying, thank you to the man up stairs. I cant wait to get back home to NY to celebrate though. I miss my family and friends so much. I also miss the city. Austin, TX has no comparisons to NY (which is a good and bad thing). So when I go home, I really enjoy being there! I'm gonna party my booty off as soon as I touch down! So friends and family, get ready!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MEEEEE!!!! P.S. I still want gifts when Iget there! Don't think I forgot! lol

It's been a while!

God, does this feel good! I've missed writing so much, and I'm disappointed in myself for being away so long. It's June 13, 2008 and it has been three months since the last time I wrote an entry. :-( WOW! I hadn't realized it had been that long. My how time flies when you're.... sleeping!. When I started this blog, I envisioned it being about entertainment solely. I wanted to talk about any and everything surrounding entertainment. Celebs, events, T.V. shows, movies, music ext. So I started out writing about A list celebs and how they lived their lives. However, after a month or two of doing that, I got really bored and sick of writing about things everyone already new. There are over 1000 websites dedicated to entertainment, and how was I going to stand out among the rest. So, one day I decided to change my writing direction. I wanted to write about things most people didn't know about. Something fresh and new, something I understound very well. I sat back in my computer chair one day, and thought long and hard about what to turn my direction towards. Then, it finally hit me. There was one thing I new better than anything in the world. One thing I could express effortlessly. The story of Brittany Davis! No one can write better about me than I can. So, with that said, I was convinced. However, I didn't want to come off conceited and self absorbed, so I decide against writing solely about my life. I also wanted to talk about current events that were interesting to someone who didn't know me personally. (But between me and you, I just didn't want things to get boring only talking about me). One month in, I was already in love with the project. It was so refreshing, and fun. Some days I'd talk about health care, and influential African Americans. Than the next I'd talk about my day at the park with my nieces and nephews. I've always tried to be versatile with my writing style. I just hope you guys can appreciate my wishy washy ways Ha-ha. My dream is to become a TV Corespondent and eventually have my own talk show. (I'll be ecstatic once that happens). But for now, writing is my outlet. I'm able to express myself freely and most importantly, openly. I'm looking forward to getting back in to blogging. It's my favorite pass time lol. So until my fingers hit the keyboard again, take care guys! luv ya!

"Process" written by "wriTeRsbLoCk"

You learn to love them; you can't live without them and yearn to hug them. This type of love you're feeling is something others thought wasn't. You're in your own world and she's the center of it. She's your permanent smile. She is more than fashion, she is your style and your secret covenant. You go hand in hand. The perfect match. You'll do anything for her and put yourself last. You always listen when she confides in you. When no one else is there, she relies on you. She's your other half and she feels uncomfortable when she is not with you. It's more than attraction with the two of you, it's spiritual. Others are jealous of it and don't know what to make of it. You guys never mind them because you are each other. You look in the mirror and you see her, but without her your whole vision is skewed and blurred. Smoke and mirrors is what they try to tell you she is. She is more than reality. All it takes is a simple kiss. Its like music whenever she is around. Your heart dances while your mind wonders. No other lady comes before her and no other guy comes before you.

Ashanti "The Way That I Love You" Video

I know I've been posting a lot of videos, but I couldn't resist this one. I can't lie, I've watched this video about 6 times in a row. I enjoy it that much! Ashanti has matured quite well over the last few years and this video proves it. It's different from anything I've seen her do in the past, and watching it made me feel like a proud sister. Her acting has advanced very well because I felt what she was saying. I believed it and most of all I received the point. Keven Bray directed it, and I must say he did a great job. When I first heard this song... I liked it, but wasn't impressed. It's been a hard road for Ashanti to "Comeback". She really needed to think outside the box and do something different. Not only different for what she has previously done, but different from everyone else too. I think she did that with this one. Nobody else has a video even close to this. It shows a side of her we rarely get to see. However, I have to say, I'm a little confused about the end, did she kill him or not? Whatever, I still enjoyed it. Also, I didn't hear her say BABY one time lol. If that's not growth, I didn't know what is.

Walter Mosley an influential African American History contributor

Born on January 12, 1952, in Los Angeles, California. Mosley is considered one of today’s leading novelists, especially in the genre of mysteries. He grew up as the only child of an African American father and a Jewish mother—a diverse background that often surfaces in his work. Mosley graduated from Johnston State College in 1977. After college, he worked a number of jobs and moved to New York City in the early 1980s. Around this time, Mosley worked as a computer programmer. But after a few years he quit to study writing at City College of New York (CCNY). With the help of a teacher’s literary agent, Mosley sold his first book, Devil in a Blue Dress (1990). Set in the post-World War II Los Angeles’ Watts neighborhood, the mystery earned strong reviews and was the first in the series of Easy Rawlins novels. Rawlins is an African American soldier who returns from the war, works as a private detective, and often wrestles with issues of race and morality. Several more Easy Rawlins mysteries soon followed: A Red Death (1991), White Butterfly (1992), Black Betty (1994), and A Little Yellow Dog (1995). Cinnamon Kiss (2005) is the most recent title in this series. Mosley created other series as well. Always Outnumbered, Always Outgunned (1997) and Walkin’ the Dog (1999) follow Socrates Fortlow, an ex-con released from prison after serving more than 20 years for rape and murder. Fearless Jones, another Mosley character, appears in a 2001 novel by the same name and 2003’s Fear Itself. Besides his fiction series, Mosley has explored several other genres, including science fiction with Blue Light (1998) and The Wave (2006). He has also written for young adults, resulting in the critically acclaimed 47. This imaginative work tells the story of a slave boy who seeks to gain his freedom. Mosley is exploring opportunities beyond the printed page. Many of Mosley’s books have been turned into movies. His first novel was made into the 1995 film Devil in the Blue Dress starring Denzel Washington as Easy Rawlins. There have reports that a film of the Easy Rawlins novel, Little Scarlet, in the works with Mosley serving as the project’s screenwriter. During his long career, Mosley has received numerous awards, including an O’Henry Award in 1996 and a Grammy Award in 2002 for the album best liner notes for Richard Pryor . . . And It’s Deep, Too! He also received an honorary doctorate degree from City College in New York. Mosley now lives in New York with his family.

Max Azria: Fashion Designer

I’m such a big fan of sexy banded silhouette dresses that I had to apply this post. Max Azria is such a phenomenal designer, and if I could afford his creations, I’d wear nothing else….unfortunately, I can’t cant. So, until I become an international entertainment correspondent, I’ll just dream about these dresses. Max Azria premiered updated designs for the newly ran Herve Leger label. Founded by Herve Leger (now Hervé L. Leroux) in 1985, Azria acquired the label in 1998 and since then, has made an already well known label even more demanded with publicity on the red carpet…

Over Heard in New York- Shamefully Funny

I was over at "Over Heard in New York", and ever time I visit, I find something shamefully funny. Here's an over heard conversation I thought was sad, yet entertaining lol. If I was the guy who lent this man my phone, I'd snached it right outta his hand as soon as he started this bull. Guy: Excuse me, brotha, may I borrow your phone for two minutes? Old man: Sure. Guy, on phone: Wassup, baby? I'm on the line for the liquor store right now... What the f**k you mean 'What line'? The line to get into the fu**in' liquor store! ... I said, the fu**in' line fo' the fu**in' liquor store! You f**kin' retarded? I said the fu**in'-- Oh, okay. [Hangs up, handing the phone back] She already got the liquor!

Bonjour, et bonjour!

Hello, and good morning everyone.

Throw Back! Tevin Campbell- Can we Talk

Can we talk.... for minute? Girl I want to know ya name! OMG This song takes me back! I was so in love with sir Champbell, but lil did I know he wanted my brother. (I no, dead wrong right lol). It's funny, cause now when I watch this video, he really looks gay. Now, there's nothing wrong with that, I'm just saying. I'm a lot more mature and some things just so happen to look different now lol. One being that damn Vest lol. Ohhhh Nooooo lol. Okay, it was the early 90s I no, I no. All in all, Tevin was the man back then. He had every teeny bopper going crazy over him guys and girls lol. Okay I'ma stop now lmao. Enjoy!

Throw Back! Baby Face- Everytime I close my eyes

I couldn't help myself lol.

Throw Back! Ashanti- Rain on me

I remember when this video came out..... I instantly was drawn to it. It was different because, nobody was singing about Domestic Violence at all. As unfortunate yet common as it is, you would think it would be up for discussion more often. Ashanti was one of the first female artist who tactfully brought awareness to this ongoing issue. Music is very powerful in that since. Sometimes just hearing a song or viewing a video, can help you out in so many ways you never thought possible. In my opinion, I enjoyed the song. I felt it had meaning, and substance, but most of all I think it has help many people going threw similar issues.

Throw Back! India Arie - The Truth

As soon as I heard this song I fell in love with it. I appreciated it because it was so positive and had a deep emotional meaning. She praised her man, not because of what he looked like or what he might have brought her. She praised him for who he was, but most of all who he was with her, and what they had together. It's somewhat strange, because I believed every word she sung as if they were sitting right in front of me. I felt the realness, the pureness, the originality. There are so many songs out today, which talk about how man are no good, selfish, womanizers, and dehumanizing themselves even. But listening to this song made you think of men who were proud and respectful of women and themselves. Loving men, powerful men, family men. We need more songs that empower us today. I love it!

Throw-back! Tyrese- Sweet Lady

Super Bowl: wriTeRsbLoCk

I no we're days late with our post, but better late than never right? Patriots would not succumb to such a drive but return a drive of their own and score a touchdown which ended the half 3 to 7 ! Giants kept going at Tom Brady continuous blitzes which led to a total 6 sacks! Poor guy hasn't seen that many sacks since Idaho potatoes! Lol ! Through it all the Giants conjured up a touch of their own! Touchdowns pass from Eli to David Tyree! This gave them some comfort but not for long! Brady in return dropped a touchdown to Randy Moss which put the Patriots in from 14 to 10 ! You would think the Giants would fret being down with score like this and with 35 seconds left Eli Manning threads a pass to Plaxico Burrges!! Wow! Magic in the making! This was the icing on the cake! This all the doubters in their wildest dreams did not entertain! The Patriots on the brink of saying goodbye to their 4th Super Bowl title! Only 29 seconds left; nothing else to do but let defeat take control! The Giants did it! Non-believers were in awe and now the city that once has been plagued with no sports titles in over 8 years since the Yankees! The knicks are a far promise and Jets can't seem to get it together! The Big Apple, the city that never sleeps has something to stay awake for now! Congratulations Giants!!!

Babies are cute no matter what.

Super Tuesday: Obama---Clinton Battle it out!!!!

Energized Democratic voters turned out in high numbers as an unprecedented 22 states held Democratic primaries and caucuses, but all those voters in all those states did little to determine a Democratic front-runner. Video Democrats Battle for DelegatesObama appears to have won the most states, picking up victories in Illinois, Idaho, Colorado, Minnesota, Connecticut, Utah, North Dakota, Kansas, Delaware, Missouri, Georgia and Alabama, according to an analysis of exit polls and the vote count. "We can take a punch, we're still standing," he told reporters in Chicago today, despite a brutal primary schedule that he said " was set up to deliver a knockout blow on Feb. 5" Clinton Wins California Primary Clinton won the delegate-rich states of California and New York, the largest and second-largest states to vote Tuesday night. Clinton also picked up victories in Massachusetts, New Jersey, Arizona, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Arkansas, where she and her husband have deep roots. A record number of Hispanic voters — a key demographic targeted by Clinton — turned out to the polls in California, according to preliminary exit polls. Neither Democratic candidate was able to declare a Super Tuesday victory, but Obama struck a defiant tone today, pointing out he is thriving even in the face of attacks from the Clinton campaign. "The Clinton research operation is about as good as anybody's out there," he said. "I assure you that having engaged in a contest against them for the last year, that they've pulled out all the stops." Obama and Clinton returned to Washington today to conduct Senate business, before returning to the campaign. Delegate War Despite trading victories with Obama, Clinton comes out of Super Tuesday the way she went in, leading in the delegate count. ABC News estimates that to date, Clinton now has 872 delegates, Obama has 793. You need 2,025 delegates to win the Democratic nomination. These numbers do not include delegates from too-close-to-call states like Missouri and New Mexico. "We feel like we've had a good night, but this contest is far from over," Clinton's chief strategist Mark Penn told reporters. Obama campaign manager David Plouffe countered: "We're having an outstanding night. We're ahead currently in the number of states won … and we think the delegates are very close."

"Work To Do" - Kidz In The Hall & Barack Obama '08

I was over at yellowrebel.blogspot.com and ran across this video. I'm a big Obama supporter, and I'm ecstatic that there are so many young adults involved in this year election. I was told today that 20% more Americans voted this year appose to last year, which is really good!! This is my first time voting, (happy, happy, joy, joy lol) and to be able to vote for someone I admire and support is phenomenal to me. Yesterday was Super Tuesday and all of the nominees came out swinging. Okay, not literally, but it was somewhat similar to a heavy weight fight. According to Abc News, Sens. Barack Obama of Illinois and Hillary Clinton of New York traded Super Tuesday victories in an expectedly tight Democratic race that has turned into a fierce battle for convention delegates. Zora Neale Hurston an influential African American History contributor

Zora Neale Hurston (1901?-1960) African-American writer, b. Notasulga, Ala. She grew up in the pleasant all-black town of Eatonville, Fla. and, moving north, graduated from Barnard College, where she studied with Franz Boas. Her placid childhood and privileged academic background are often cited as major reasons for her work's general lack of stress on racism, a characteristic so unlike such contemporaries as Richard Wright. An anthropologist and folklorist, Hurston collected African-American folktales in the rural South and sympathetically interpreted them in the collections Mules and Men (1935) and Tell My Horse (1938). A third volume of tales, Every Tongue Got to Confess, was discovered in manuscript and published in 2001. Hurston, a significant figure in the Harlem Renaissance, was also the author of four novels including Jonah's Gourd Vine (1934) and the influential Their Eyes Were Watching God (1937). Her plays include the comedy Mule Bone (1931), written in collaboration with her friend Langston Hughes. Zora Neale Hurston wrote this famous quote: I am not tragically colored. There is no great sorrow dammed up in my soul, nor lurking behind my eyes. . . . Even in the helter-skelter skirmish that is my life, I have seen that the world is to the strong regardless of a little pigmentation more or less. No, I do not weep at the world—I am too busy sharpening my oyster knife. "How It Feels to Be Colored Me" (1928)

Du Bois, W. E. B. an influential African American History contributor

Du Bois, W. E. B. 1868–1963, American civil-rights leader and author, b. Great Barrington, Mass., grad. Harvard (B.A., 1890; M.A., 1891; Ph.D., 1895). Du Bois was an early exponent of full equality for African Americans and a cofounder (1905) of the Niagara Movement, which became (1909) the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). Unlike Booker T. Washington, who believed that unskilled blacks should focus on economic self-betterment, and Marcus Garvey, who advocated a “back to Africa” movement, Du Bois demanded that African Americans should achieve not only economic parity with whites in the United States but full and immediate civil and political equality as well. Also, he introduced the concept of the “talented tenth,” a black elite whose duty it was to better the lives of less fortunate African Americans. From 1897 to 1910, Du Bois taught economics and history at Atlanta Univ. In 1910 he became editor of the influential NAACP magazine, Crisis, a position he held until 1934. That year he resigned over the question of voluntary segregation, which he had come to favor over integration, and returned to Atlanta Univ. (1934–44). His concern for the liberation of blacks throughout the world led him to organize the first (Paris, 1919) of several Pan-African Congresses. In 1945, at the Fifth Congress in Manchester, England, he met with the African leaders Kwame Nkrumah and Jomo Kenyatta. In 1961 he became a member of the American Communist party, and shortly thereafter he renounced his American citizenship. In the last two years of his life Du Bois lived in Ghana. His books include The Souls of Black Folks (1903), The Negro (1915), Black Reconstruction in America (1935), Color and Democracy (1945), The World and Africa (1947), and In Battle for Peace: The Story of My 83rd Birthday (1952). Mr. Du Bois, W. E. B. said this famous quote: It is a peculiar sensation, this double-consciousness, this sense of always looking at one's self through the eyes of others. . . . One ever feels his twoness,—an American, a Negro; two souls, two thoughts, two unreconciled strivings; two warnings ideals in one dark body, whose dogged strength alone keeps it from being torn asunder.

Mary Mclead Bethune, an influential African American History contributor

Mary McLeod Bethune (1875–1955), American educator, b. Mayesville, S.C., grad. Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, 1895. The 17th child of former slaves, she taught (1895–1903) in a series of southern mission schools before settling in Florida to found (1904) the Daytona Normal and Industrial Institute for Negro Girls. From 1904 to 1942 and again from 1946 to 1947, she served as president of the institute, which, after merging with Cookman Institute (1923), became Bethune-Cookman College. A leader in the American black community, she founded the National Council of Negro Women (1935) and was director (1936–44) of Negro Affairs of the National Youth Administration. In addition, she served as special adviser on minority affairs to President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. At the 1945 conference that organized the United Nations, she was a consultant on interracial understanding. She wrote this famous quote: If we accept and acquiesce in the face of discrimination, we accept the responsibility ourselves and allow those responsible to salve their conscience by believing that they have our acceptance and concurrence. We should, therefore, protest openly everything . . . that smacks of discrimination or slander.

Black History Month part one.

Americans have recognized black history annually since 1926, first as "Negro History Week" and later as "Black History Month." What you might not know is that black history had barely begun to be studied-or even documented-when the tradition originated. Although blacks have been in America at least as far back as colonial times, it was not until the 20th century that they gained a respectable presence in the history books. I was visiting Info Please and found great information on influential balack people. I've posted some above.

Breakfast Anyone?

Great Morning Everyone! Why is it a Great Morning you ask? Because, I'm not going to work tomorrow! Today's pay day! And I'm heading home for the weekend! What more could you ask for? (Let me not go there lol) So in other words, I'm feeling excellent. I’m very excited to go home for a number of reasons. One being, I’ll get to see my friends and family. I miss my mom and lil sister soooo much. I don’t get to see them often, so this will be a treat. Two being, I’m going to see a really good friend of mine. We haven’t seen one another since the summer and I’m ecstatic about our meeting. They only thing I’m not excited about is the weather. It’s freezing cold, and it’s supposed to rain which is not a good combination. I guess we'll make the best of it. One thing I promised myself this trip is, I will not rip and run to see everyone I can. Every time I do that, I end up burned out and disappointed. The reason being, I really don’t get to enjoy everyone's time. I’m ripping and running, all the while, not enjoying each moment spent. All I can think of is “who’s next on the list?” I’ve made a conscious decision to enjoy the love ones I can now. This isn’t the last time I’ll be home, so I’ll just have to see them next time. No hard feelings guys. Now in other news… I'm at work, listening to "The Dream" album. I have mixed feeling about this one, but I must say I enjoy a number of songs off this album. This is not the type of album you would nominate for a Grammy, but it's entertaining enough to bop-to at work when bored. I mean something has to get me threw the work day right? It's been fun, yet brife talking to you guys this morning, now let me get back to enjoying our wonderful 70 degrees weather here in Austin, Tx. Great Day Everyone!

Put You On Game! Lupe Fiasco. (Song Review)

I've been listening to Lupe's album since I brought it a week ago, and I can't stop. There's a song on there called "Put You On Game", I swear I've listen to this song back to back about 6 times and I can't get enough. when I first heard it, I couldn't figure it out, but the more I listen the more I understand. Once I realized the story-line, I was blown away. I'm a big hip hop/R&B fan and I appreciate when a artist makes music that take you to another world. I like when you have to listen to it a million time just to make sure you understood each phrase. I appreciate that artist who respect us enough to say "I respect my audience, and I not going to talk down to them. I trust that their smart and open minded. There's no need to dumb them down to sell records" I believe Lupe is one of those great, positive, food for thought artist, who respects his audience. So below, are the lyrics to the song for those of you who haven't heard it yet. (The Narrator is "The Hood, The Ghetto, The Trap, The Game" Which ever one you can relate to). [
The Game: Laughing, smoking] Lemme put you on game [gunshot] Lemme put you on game Don't you know that I run this place, And I've begun this race, Must I rerun this pace? I'm the reason its become this way And their love for it is the reason I have become this praised (lemme put you on game) They love my darkness, I make them heartless, And in return, the have become my martyrs, I've been in the poem of many a poet, And I reside in the art of many a artist (lemme put you on game) Some of your smartest have tried to articulate My whole part in this But they're fruitless in their harvesting' The drow grows from my footsteps I'm the one that they follow, I am the one that they march with (lemme put you on game) Through the back alleys And the black markets, The Oval Offices, Crackhouses and apartments Through the mazes of the queens, The pages of the sages And the Chambers of The Kings (lemme put you on game) Through the veins-es of the fiends, A paper chaser's pager, Yo, I'm famous on the scene One of the oldest, most ancient-est of things Speak every single language on the planet, y'all mean? (lemme put you on game) I am the American dream, The rape of Africa The undying machine, The overpriced medicine, The murderous regime, The tough guy's front, And the one behind the scenes (lemme put you on game) I am the blood of this city, It's gas, water, and electricity, I'm it's gym, and it's math, and it's history, The gunshots in the class And you can't pass if you're missin, G. I taught them better than that I taught them aim for the head And hope they never come back I'm glad your daddy's gone, baby, Hope he never comes back, I hope he's with your mother, With my hustlers high in my trap (lemme put you on game) I hope you die in his trash, I can't help it all I hear when you're crying is laughs I'm sure somebody find you tied up in this bag, Behind the hospital little baby, Crack addicts had (lemme put you on game) Then maybe you can grow up to be a stripper, A welfare-receiving prostitute And gold digger, You can watch on TV, How they should properly depict you, The rivers should flow with liquor, Quench your thirst on my elixirs, (lemme put you on game) I am the safe haven for the rebel runaway and the resistor Ihe trusted misleader, The number one defender, And from a throne of their bones I rule, These fools are my fuel So I make them Cool (lemme put you on game) Baptize them in the water out of Scarface pool, And feed 'em from the table that held Corleone's food, If you die, tell them that you played my game I hope your bullet holes become mouths that say my name, 'Cause I'm the... Staying in a complete positive state of mind, it the healthiest thing on earth (Brittany Davis January 2008)

Promise yourself to be strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. Talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet. To make all your friends feel like there is something in them. To look at the sunny side of everything, and make your optimism come true. To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and expect only the best. To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own. To forget the mistakes of the past and press on the greater achievements of the future. To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living person you meet a smile. To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others. To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, and too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble. This is the optimist Creed! Staying in a complete positive state of mind, it the healthiest thing on earth.

¡. Día maravilloso de hoy del A.!

Today's a Wonderful day! The weather is amazing. I think the world is about to end.... lol. Okay maybe not... but the weather has been bugging out lately. One minute it's 30 below zero and then it's 65 degrease. I mean come on, where's Al Gore when ya need him! Now in other news.... I'm doing well today, but I'm having a little bit of a dilemma. I'm looking for my first car to buy :-) but don't no which kind I want :-( I'm 5'10, so I want something I won't have to climb down into. I also want it to be an automatic with power steering, power windows and locks and be a four door. I want the exterior to be either sliver or black, and have four wheel drive. I also want a sunroof, ac, heat, radio and CD player and have black cloth interior. Anti-lock brakes and air-bags. Now I don't know what model this will be but I do want something younger than I am. So today I'm going to go to a few dealerships and test drive some cars. Hopefully I'll find what I'm looking for. Also if anyone comes upon a car that fits this description, please send me a picture or a link of it to my comment box below! Thanks, and enjoy your day!

One for Clinton… one for Obama… two down… forty-eight to go.

Even though he lost by 4 points to Hillary Clinton, his speech was great. I no I've been posting a lot about the Democratic electoral race, but that's because for the first time in my life, I'm interested in it. I'm 20 years old, and this is the first Presidential election I've be able to participate in. I'm very passionate about what my future holds and how this country will effect it. I'm still not sure who I'm voting for, but I really enjoyed Senator Barack Obama's speech last night. It felt good listening to him and agreeing with him on some very important issues. So for those of you who missed it, here is it. Please click link above (One for Clinton… one for Obama… two down… forty-eight to go.) for the entire speech! I want to congratulate Senator Clinton on a hard-fought victory here in New Hampshire. A few weeks ago, no one imagined that we'd have accomplished what we did here tonight. For most of this campaign, we were far behind, and we always knew our climb would be steep. But in record numbers, you came out and spoke up for change. And with your voices and your votes, you made it clear that at this moment – in this election – there is something happening in America. There is something happening when men and women in Des Moines and Davenport; in Lebanon and Concord come out in the snows of January to wait in lines that stretch block after block because they believe in what this country can be. There is something happening when Americans who are young in age and in spirit – who have never before participated in politics – turn out in numbers we've never seen because they know in their hearts that this time must be different. There is something happening when people vote not just for the party they belong to but the hopes they hold in common – that whether we are rich or poor; black or white; Latino or Asian; whether we hail from Iowa or New Hampshire, Nevada or South Carolina, we are ready to take this country in a fundamentally new direction. That is what's happening in America right now. Change is what's happening in America. You can be the new majority who can lead this nation out of a long political darkness – Democrats, Independents and Republicans who are tired of the division and distraction that has clouded Washington; who know that we can disagree without being disagreeable; who understand that if we mobilize our voices to challenge the money and influence that's stood in our way and challenge ourselves to reach for something better, there's no problem we can't solve – no destiny we cannot fulfill. Our new American majority can end the outrage of unaffordable, unavailable health care in our time. We can bring doctors and patients; workers and businesses, Democrats and Republicans together; and we can tell the drug and insurance industry that while they'll get a seat at the table, they don't get to buy every chair. Not this time. Not now. Our new majority can end the tax breaks for corporations that ship our jobs overseas and put a middle-class tax cut into the pockets of the working Americans who deserve it. We can stop sending our children to schools with corridors of shame and start putting them on a pathway to success. We can stop talking about how great teachers are and start rewarding them for their greatness. We can do this with our new majority....

Ron Mueck (born 1958) is an Australian hyperrealist sculptor working in Great Britain (Great Work)

Mueck's early career was as a model maker and puppeteer for children's television and films, notably the film Labyrinth for which he also contributed the voice of Ludo. Mueck moved on to establish his own company in London, making photo-realistic props and animatronics for the advertising industry. Although highly detailed, these props were usually designed to be photographed from one specific angle hiding the mess of construction seen from the other side. Mueck increasingly wanted to produce realistic sculptures which looked perfect from all angles. In 1996 Mueck transitioned to fine art, collaborating with his mother-in-law, Paula Rego , to produce small figures as part of a tableau she was showing at the Hayward Gallery. Rego introduced him to Charles Saatchi who was immediately impressed and started to collect and commission work. This led to the piece which made Mueck's name, Dead Dad, being included in the Sensation show at the Royal Academy the following year. Dead Dad is a rather haunting silicone and mixed media sculpture of the corpse of Mueck's father reduced to about two thirds of its natural scale. It is the only work of Mueck's that uses his own hair for the finished product. Mueck's sculptures faithfully reproduce the minute detail of the human body, but play with scale to produce disconcertingly jarring visual images. His five metre high sculpture Boy 1999 was a feature in the Millennium Dome and later exhibited in the Venice Biennale. In 2002 his sculpture Pregnant Woman was purchased by the National Gallery of Australia for AU$800,000.

The New Hampshire polls

It's still early but Barack Obama and John McCain are in the lead. McCain picked up 4 votes, Mitt Romney 2 votes and Rudy Giuliani 1 vote. On the Democratic side, Obama received 7 votes, John Edwards 2 votes and Bill Richardson 1 vote. Adding that up - there were 17 votes cast tonight. Yet Dixville Notch town clerk Rick Erwin told ABC News this afternoon that there are only 16 residents of voting age in the town -- three registered Republicans, two Democrats and 12 registered as undeclared.

The Wire Review

Last night The Wire came on. Just when it was about to get good, heavy cloud coverage came over my house, and started messing with the reception. Bullsh** I was so upset. I waited nearly a year for this session, and the weather is th! e reason I won’t see it? Oh hell no! Damn satellite TV! But fortunately, the reception in the bedroom was working. I ended up viewing it after all. I enjoyed it a lot, and there's a new element to the show, The Press. The story line seems to change every year. Here is what I got off the website that is quite informative: The first season of 'The Wire' (2002) concentrated on the often-futile efforts of police to infiltrate a West Baltimore drug ring headed by Avon Barksdale and his lieutenant, Stringer Bell. In Seasons Two and Three, as the Barksdale investigation escalated, new story lines involving pressures on the working class and the city's political leadership were introduced. Season Four focused on the stories of several young boys in the public school system, struggling with problems at home and the lure of the corner - set against the rise of a new drug empire in West Baltimore and a new Mayor in City Hall. The fifth and final season of 'The Wire' centers on the media's role in addressing - or failing to address - the fundamental political, economic and social realities depicted over the course of the series, while also resolving storylines of the numerous characters woven throughout the narrative arc of the show. I look at it and see a lot of the negative and positive things I saw growing up. Things I still see to this day when I travel back home to NYC. I love viewing stories that I or people I no have experienced personally. It gives a voice to those who don’t have one. It puts a wide eye on how the under privilege really live and struggle to survive. It’s not just another cop and drug show, its deeper then that. You forced to feel what they feel. The next episode some on Sunday @ 9pm. Enjoy!

Monday.... What a Bore!

Hey! Hey! Hey! Everybody! How's it going? Today's Monday and.... I hate it lol. Okay I don't hate it, I'm just not a big fan of (work week) Mondays. Even if your a morning person, Mondays can ruin it for you. I woke up upset because I couldn't sleep. I guess drinking Pepsi at 10:30pm wasn't a good idea huh? So I'm at work working on....well....nothing lol. I think there should be a two hour morining extended time for Mondays. 8:30am should turn in to 10:30am. I would like that that alot better. But don't get me wrong, I like my job. I can blog, eat, read and work(code for: Do nothing) all at the same time. So today I'm just going to chill-out and do nothing! Good day everyone! Enjoy!

Sunday Bliss

Hello Everyone! Today is Sunday and it's has been a relaxing day. I woke up around 1pm (slept late) and enjoyed it. I went for a walk through the park today and it felt really good. I miss working out, I haven't done it in months and I need to get back into it. It decreases a lot of stress and even though I don't have any, I still enjoy the release. I spent the whole weekend fixing up my bedroom and had some me time. That's one thing I want to do more of (having me time). It makes me more centered and relaxed. I also went out and purchased some DVD's. I also rented Martin Lawrence's (You So Crazy) stand up. I love that show. Martin is a fool for real lol. So now I'm about to jump in the shower and get ready to watch "The Wire" Good day everyone!

Friday, January 4, 2008

Okay I just got this e-mail and I'm so excited.... The Wire is back on HBO this Sunday night at 9pm. I love this show! If you have no idea what I'm talking about, you need to go to your local DVD store, and ask for the series collection and watch each episode. I bet you'll enjoy it. Each season is better than the last. Stringer Bell is one of the most attractive, dark skin, English man I've ever laid eyes on lol. If you think I'm lying, watch the show and tell me if your not mesmerized by his handsomeness lol It's full of crime, drama, suspense, comedy, but most of all it's believable. I appreciate that factor. The acting is amazing and the story lines are well delivered. It's fun to watch because it gives you a wide-raged look on how a low income urban community, located in Baltimore Marilyn operates. You get to the view point of everyone from the homeless guy who uses drugs, to the Mayor of the state. It's not just another sitcom, or a cop show like NYPD Blue. It's a lot more in dept. You'll have to watch to see exactly what I mean.

When is it time to leave?

When we as young and mature women, find ourselves in monogamist relationships, it’s easy to lose ones-self in order to maintain stability. But when has losing yourself become a good thing? We become rapped up in so many projects, that we lose focus on the most important one (ourselves). So when is it no longer worth the trouble? When is it time to start giving back to yourself? If you wind up accommodating your partner just to prevent fights, rather than having some hope that it’s worth trying to work things out; if your relationship is based on evasiveness, deception, and withholding; if it’s characterized by lack of room for change and growth; or if it just doesn’t seem that your life is better in the relationship than it would be out of it, then it’s time to consider ending it. Getting help is easy. You don’t need to do it alone. Friends can be an excellent source of support and insight. Individual or group therapy can help, too. But if we do not want to leave and things aren’t that bad, ya’ll just need to work out a few minor things, then therapy will work. Sometimes problems are resistant to change and it seems as if talking to our partners and to friends and family gets us nowhere. When we feel that we’ve gone around and around on the same issue with no improvement, we may become completely overwhelmed and feel stuck in patters we can’t change on our won. That’s when we might seek therapy, either as individuals or together. But understand therapy isn’t for the weak, it’s for those who want change and aren’t able to find the answers on their own. Relationships can be difficult sometimes, but knowing what’s healthy and safe for you is what will determine the stability of the relationship.
